This page says in plain words what Holy Moly stores, where it sits and who can see it. It is deliberately short, because the app does little.
Who runs this
Holy Moly is a personal side project by Stephan Wolschon. No company, no business model, no staff. It costs nothing and there is nothing to buy.
What is stored
Only what is typed into it: a trip’s name, the names of the people on it, date suggestions and answers, ideas with a link, a place and a rough price, what is in the plan, and the costs along with who paid for what. Optionally, a payment note on your profile so others know how to pay you back.
Where it sits
In a Postgres database at Neon in Frankfurt. The app itself runs at Vercel in the EU. There is no copy anywhere else.
Who can see it
Anyone holding a trip’s link can join it and read everything in it — including a payment note. The link is the key. Share it the way you would share the trip itself. Otherwise nobody sees the contents except the operator, who has technical access to the database.
Signing in is optional
Without an account, a cookie on the device is the login; a password is never asked for. Signing in ties your trips to an account so you can reach them from another device. That sign-in is handled by Clerk (Clerk Inc., USA), who then process your email address or Google identity. Without signing in, Clerk learns nothing.
Cookies and local data
A session cookie (who you are on this device) and, if you change it, your light-or-dark preference. Pages you open are also cached on the device so they stay readable without signal. Clearing your browser data removes all of it — and without an account, your way back into your trips with it.
No tracking
No analytics, no advertising, no profiling, and nothing passed to anyone beyond the providers named above.
Deletion
Whoever created a trip can delete it, which removes its dates, ideas and costs too. For anything else — removing a person entirely, say — an informal email is enough.
